What is a Growth Group?

Growth Groups are small groups of adults, who meet in homes or at church on a weekly basis to study God's Word, share together and support one another in their Christian lives. Groups consist of up to but no more than 16 adults (10-14 is our goal for each group). Groups meet on various days and times of the week. Group meetings last for approximately 90 minutes. Group meetings consist of Bible study, fellowship, prayer and encouragement.  Growth Groups are the place where we establish relationships and grow towards spiritual maturity together.
"But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen."
2 Peter 3:18

What is the Goal?

The goal of Growth Groups is spiritual growth.

"They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved."
Acts 2:42-47

Are They Important?

At Fellowship, Growth Groups are the place where the real ministry of the church takes place as we encourage, support and love one another. We believe no one walks alone. We need each other!

What does it take to be a Growth Group Leader?

You don't have to have a Bible degree or even previous experience. (Training is provided.)
You just need a willingness to lead a small group of friends on a path to spiritual growth and a desire to see them grow in their faith.
Growth Group Leaders:
  • Have a heart for discipleship.
  • Facilitate and lead the weekly meeting.
  • Attend a training session in late August.
  • Each group is ideally led by two adults.

INSTE Bible College

Partnership Between Fellowship and INSTE Bible College (INSTitute of Theology by Extension)

The two most important components of the INSTE educational system are individual daily study using the INSTE study materials and weekly small group meetings. These meetings are integrated into Fellowship's Growth Group structure so that each group contains both the elements of a Growth Group combined with biblical instruction. This unique approach to discipleship and leadership training is based on a commitment to learning that combines knowing, doing and being. The Growth Group is a key component that ties what the student is learning in his/her daily study (knowing) to his/her life experiences (doing) through dynamic reflection with other group members and the group leader, which leads to spiritual formation (being). INSTE provides the complete curriculum, materials and records, and a proven methodology. The INSTE Program includes two levels of study.
LEVEL ONE - Certificate of Christian Ministry
Four 16-week discipleship courses that prepare strong, committed disciples in the local church. The major emphasis of this program focuses on the character development of the disciple. Intensive discipleship (being) plus foundational Bible and theological input (knowing) leads to ministry (doing). Through this program, maturing disciples find their places in the Body of Christ, in which they can serve the Lord with joy and effectiveness. Courses include:
• Following Jesus in Committed Service: Discipleship 1
• Finding Your Ministry in the Body of Christ: Discipleship 2
• Discovering Treasures in the Word of God: The Old Testament
• Exploring the Riches of the Word of God: The New Testament
Cost: Level One consists of four 16-week courses. Each course costs just $96! That includes the textbook, enrollment, tuition and shipping fees.
